Infinite Aquatics Quarantine Process

Day 1: Release, Observation, and Feeding

On day one, we acclimate and release the fish into our holding aquariums. After a 20-to-30-minute acclimation process, the bags are emptied into a net to catch the fish to be quarantined (called plop and drop) and the fish are put into the aquarium for observation. After about 4 hours in the holding tank, the new fish are offered some frozen foods to get them ready for treatment. We continue to observe the fish for the remainder of the day and offer more food in the evening before “lights out” in the fish room.

Day 2: General Cure

On the second day we observe the fish for the first hour after “lights on” in the fish room. We are looking for any fish that may have passed during the evening hours and removing them from the aquarium. We are also looking at the overall visual health of the fish interactions. We feel all fish deserve a chance to become healthy and do not remove any fish that are alive at the time we start our meds. After about an hour of observations, we add General Cure, per the directions, and continue observation for the remainder of the day. General Cure is a medication that will remove internal parasites from fish and help get their immune system back in order to start the healing process. It is by far the harshest medication for fish but is required to get the fish back to a healthy state. At the end of the day, before “lights out” we remove any fish that have not survived the initial dose of General Cure and observe the remaining fish for any unnatural behaviors.

Day 3: Erythromycin and Ick X

On day 3 we observe the fish for about an hour after “lights on” in the fish room. We locate any fish that did not survive the evening and remove them from the aquarium. We offer some pellet food for them to eat to get some strength back for the rest of the treatment. After about 4 hours of “lights on” in the fish room, we add Erythromycin per the directions to the aquarium. Erythromycin will help cure any fin rot and fungus on the fish and help restore the fish gills. The rest of the day is observation and removal of any fish that pass during the day. About an hour before “lights out” we check for any fish that have moved on during this phase of quarantine, and we dose Ick-X per the directions

Day 4: Water Change, Fritz Zyme 7, Ick-X, Observation On day 4 the fish have made it to the home stretch! We observe the fish for about an hour after “lights on” and remove any fish that did not make it to this point. We will do a 25% water change and add Prime to the aquarium. We add Fritz Zyme 7 to help get the beneficial bacteria built back up in the aquarium and we add another dose of Ick-X as per the directions. We observe and begin feeding the fish normally at this point. The fish are generally now ready for sale and pickup. Even this far into the quarantine process, some fish do not do well and are still not healthy enough for sale. After about 4 hours of “lights on” We move the healthy fish to a new tank for the customers to purchase and begin again the quarantine process on any fish that are still not well.
